The My Brain Books distill complex neuroscience into digestible information and practical strategies that children can apply to their everyday lives to help them to better understand how their brains function. As a neuro-performance scientist I was thoroughly impressed with how Orlanda decoded and distilled the science into concepts, vocabulary, stories and language that really resonate with children. My children have thoroughly enjoyed reading the books and are quick to alert me to when my amygdala is 'barking'.
As a teacher, I’m always looking for ways to talk about mental health with my students in a way that feels safe and natural. The Brain Books have been an absolute gem for that. These beautiful little books break down how our brains work in a way that kids can actually understand. They’re perfect for helping kids see their minds as something they can understand, care for, and appreciate.
What I love most is that they spark real conversations in the classroom about things like feelings, resilience, and self-care. And honestly, they’re just as meaningful for us grown-ups, too. They serve as a great reminder, that learning about our brains can help us be our healthiest, happiest selves.
This collection of books are loved by my Year 1 students. Beautifully written and illustrated, whilst delivering important messages on wellbeing and emotional regulation. A must have for educators and parents. The books are engaging, child friendly, and informative for all those who read. Thank you for creating such important and loved books for us, Orlanda.
I am a psychiatrist and and training as a child & adolecent therapist. These books are wonderfully informative, medically/scientifically sound and child/ parent accessible.
As professionals, we all wish for books like Orlanda's.
The art is engaging as well as the wording. I have had the pleasure of meeting Orlanda and can nearly hear her graciously speak via these books.
I was lucky enough to read these before they launched and they are amazing! My kids use the breathing exercises from the books and we now use the problem scale in our household. I would definitely recommend them!
